Hitting the Beach in Southern California in a Roofnest Sparrow

I’ve always loved camping. I spent my childhood camping in homemade tents with my parents, and as I’ve gotten older I still have the love for camping, getting out into nature and just enjoying. As I’ve gotten older and hopefully wiser, I realized sleeping on the ground wasn’t as appealing as it used to be so I set out to find a car roof camper. And to top it all off, I now always travel with my two dogs, Jack Sparrow and Ceilidh.

I went through a stint of staying in hotel rooms because I had to escape L.A., but the dogs didn’t like the “different smells” in each of the places I’d go. And let’s face the fact, hotel rooms get a bit expensive. What I missed was driving to the beach and pitching a tent and watching the sunset with a glass of wine and my pups.

So, I started searching for a comfortable way to camp with my dogs that would be our place; they would know the smells, and it would be EASY. Because I want to be able to get up and go whenever I get the urge, I decided to try the new Roofnest Sparrow, and so far it’s been a great decision. Ultimately, its the dog’s decision. If they are happy and will sleep peacefully, then I am happy. And they love it! I bring along Jack’s favorite blanket that he can burrow underneath while sleeping. Ceilidh has already figured out that climbing the ladder gets her inside — so she’s trying to learn! They also love all that they can see everything through all of the windows.

I wish I had a bit more free time to head to the beach to camp with my pups, but I know with my Roofnest car roof camper it’s available to me at a moment’s notice. I hope to get out more in the fall when my schedule clears up and the beach sites here in Southern California become a bit more open.

I already have a trip planned to Jalama Beach, which is one of our favorite places to camp! Miles of beaches to run and investigate with amazing sunsets!

I love being a part of the Roofnest Flock, and hope to share more of our adventures with my car roof camper soon!

Happy Camping!
